Ish performs family friendly music in a range of styles. He comes by this honestly. He started out working as a Hobo Clown at the Winnipeg Children’s Festival mixing music, storytelling and balloon sculpting into a children’s concert. After several years he was asked by children’s author, Robert Munsch, if he could do the show as a musical performance without the clown act and thus a musician was born. Now based in Hope, BC, this CD is his fourth recording and is a mix of upbeat vocal and instrumental tracks. You get everything from a kids sing a long called Magic In the Air to an Italian influenced instrumental played on accordion and melodica. There are a couple of showcases for his clawhammer banjo playing. Seven of the tracks are written by Ish and three are co-writes with Marion Lightley who is also the accordionist. One original track each from Lightley and Jason Homey who plays banjo and mandolin on eight tracks.
