This is the ten-song debut CD from Canmore based folk musicians Julie Chang and Sean Isaac who have been collaborating since 2014. They did release a four song EP in 2015. Chang handles all the vocals and plays piano, Isaac provides electric and acoustic guitar accompaniment.
The songs are all co-writes between the two principals. They initially built their audience base performing as a duo but recently they have been touring as a four piece with support from Kathy Thompson on cello and and Kyle Pullan on bass. Their CD has been augmented by four addditonal musicians including Thompson.
Chang says, “Our songs are inspired by two things it seems, love and landscapes.” Her goal is to draw an emotional response from listeners. Someone in the office said Chang’s voice reminded her of Margo Timmins. Isaac worked as a mountain guide for a decade after ten years as a climber. Life as a touring musician is equally precarious.
