Lazy Mike and the Rockin’ Recliners

These guys work the rocking side of Chicago blues with a touch of western swing. They are smart and fun with enough of a light touch to keep everything interesting. A Nanaimo based four-piece with “Lazy” Mike Mallon on vocals and harp, Carson “McKinley Slim” Mallon on guitar, Brian Whitty on bass, and Evan Matthiessen on drums. Muddy Waters given name was McKinley, which tells you where they locate their musical influences. Eleven tracks, eight originals, six written by Mike and two from bass player Whitty; plus covers of Little Walter’s Just Your Fool, Freddie King’s Hideaway, and Hank Williams’ Mind Your Own Business.

Apparently Nanaimo is the place to go to put on your dancing shoes. They shufflin’ down in Nanaimo. Ain’t nobody shufflin’ like they do in Nanaimo. Keep on shufflin’ till they get it right. Down in Nanaimo.
