BC Musician Magazine is a very different music magazine.
Our primary contributors are working musicians, people who travel the province and beyond to perform in interesting, inspiring, and curious locations. But musicians aren’t just making music. They are people with opinions and interests; they are writers and artists, collaborators and curiosity-seekers.
Our readers are interested in independent music, music festivals and music life. They like to know what music is being produced in this province, who is touring here, and who is making music with whom. Our readers also want to hear about the real-life experiences of being a touring musician — broken down vehicles, wildlife encounters, experiments with veggie oil- powered vehicles, empty shows, lonely drives. Plus advice and tips on open mic nights, busking, and, of course, gear.
Regular contributors include: Carolyn Mark, Geoff Berner, Kevin Kane, Joey Only, Linda McRae, Lyndell Montgomery, Don Alder, Patrick Jacobson, and many more. New contributors join the roster each issue.
Regular features include Kevin Kane’s Vinyl Word and Adam PW Smith’s “pinup” taken from his extensive archive of live music photography.
BC Musician Magazine showcases drawings, poetry, puzzles, and the occasional recipe. CDs and live shows are “peer reviewed.”
Every issue we’ll hear from the proprietors of venues all around BC where musicians make their living. We also profile either a record shop or a music label every issue.
